1. The total insulated polymer-housed metal-oxide surge arrester:
The total insulated polymer-housed metal-oxide surge arrester,
which our company research and develop,is a new-type overvoltage
protection device. The voltage range is 3～35kV,and for the main
technical parameters,it’s same with the conventional arrester with
same voltage level.3～35kV polymer-housed metal-oxide surge
arrester, which the type is displayed after with additional
characteristic code “Q”,such as YH5WZ-51/134Q, the type of total
insulated polymer-housed metal-oxide surge arrester without gaps
used for the 35kV system power station.

4, Installation structure and dimentions
The total insulated polymer-housed metal-oxide surge arrester,which
is in parallel with the circuit,can protect AC system with relevant
voltage class from the damages by lightning overvoltage and
operating overvoltage.According to the different objects of
protection,the arrester will be devided into several types as
follows, power station (Z),power distribution (S),parallel
compensation capacitor (R), electirc machinery (D) and so on.
Ambient conditions of operation
1. Ambient temperature : -40℃～+40℃.
2. Altitude : no exceeding 2,000m.
3. Power frequency : 48Hz～62Hz.
4. Earthquake intensity : no exceeding 8.
5. Max. wind speed : no exceeding 35m/s.
6. The power frequency voltage, which imposed among terminals of
arrester for a long term,should don’t exceed the continuous
operationg voltage of arrester.

terminal and core of the arrester.And there’re advantages that
simple outline and structure, good sealing performance, high
dielectric strength.In operating,the interphase insulation distance
must be ensured, and it’s relevantly incresed for the creepage
distance and phase distance,based on the changing conditions.The
product overcomes the above defects,and improves the creepage
distance,and reduces the insulation dimension between the main
bodies.It’s convenient and flexible,and available in different
installation situations, especially switchgear with limited
space,and the areas such as the high altitude,the heavy pollution.
